Special Deputy Sheriff Edmund (Ed) Trudeau

    February 14, 1904 Missoula County Special Deputy Sheriff Edmund (Ed) Trudeau was shot and killed in Lolo Montana.
Deputy Trudeau had expelled an intoxicated man, from a Valentines Day dance above John Delaney’s store.  The man returned with a Winchester rifle and began shooting at the store and dance hall.  When Trudeau exited the building to investigate, the man, who was hiding behind a scale, shot the Deputy. 

A sheriff’s posse arrested the murderer after a long pursuit during which one of the posse members was seriously wounded.  Special Deputy Trudeau had been appointed May 19, 1903, he was survived by his wife and three children.
